Selby sat out the first eight games of the season after having improper contact with an agent, so he likely had his eye on the NBA all season. He may have been hurt by the NBA's one-and-done rule. He showed some excellent shooting skills and may be a player who simply didn't have an opportunity to show what he could do at Kansas.
