Seton Hall guard Jeremy Hazell scored a game-high 27 points, also sending the game into overtime with an NBA-distance three pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining, in the Pirates' 76-70 loss to Rutgers in the Big East Championship. Jordan Theodore (14 points) and Jeff Robinson (11) were the other Pirates to reach double figures, but Robinson went 0-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Seton Hall had a lot of experienced talent but they didn't play to that level much of the year. The Pirates shot 29% from three on the year, and after hot performances against St. John's and Marquette they returned to reality against Rutgers.
