William and Mary freshman guard Marcus Thornton scored 22 points, including 10-of-14 from the free throw line, in the Tribe's loss to VCU.

One of the leading candidates for CAA Rookie of the Year, Thornton was getting into the lane at will against VCU's defense and was unlucky not to finish a game-winning layup at the end of regulation. Thornton is coming on strong of late, scoring 15 or more points in five of his last seven games.
