Minnesota guard Julian Welch scored 15 points and had four assists in a 76-56 win over Central Michigan on Tuesday evening. After combining for only 12 points in his first four games as a Golden Gopher, Welch has now scored in double figures in eight consecutive contests.
Welch is a player on the rise and was little known prior to the season. With Trevor Mbakwe done for the year, Welch is the only Minnesota player averaging double figure scoring. He also leads the team in assists.
