Virginia Tech freshman guard Marquis Rankin played seven minutes in the first game of his career, scoring two points, grabbing a board and dishing out an assist.

Rankin missed the first seven games of the season after injuring his ankle over the summer.  He was one of my favorite freshman sleepers, so I'm eager to see if he works his way in to the rotation.  A rise similar to Miami's Shane Larkin can't be ruled out. The Hokies are struggling, and don't have a true point guard.
