Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe had a 17-point, 10-rebound effort in Monday's 71-55 win over South Dakota State. Mbakwe double-doubled on Friday night as well, with an identical 17 points and ten rebounds. Amazingly, Mbakwe has only taken 13 field goal attempts this season but has gotten to the foul line 23 times over the two games.
Mbakwe needs to improve on his 14-for-23 free throw shooting, but it is a good sign that he is getting there so often. Mbakwe should continue to dominate smaller teams, with the help of Ralph Sampson III, until conference play begins.
