D.J. Newbill, a 6-foot-4 guard from Southern Mississippi, has decided to transfer to Penn State. , Newbill, a former Pennsylvania High School player of the year, averaged a solid 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds during his freshman campaign.
Newbill will have to sit out the 2011-2012 season due to transfer rules, but will still have three years of eligibility to play for the Nittany Lions. Penn State is looking to have a down year after making the NCAA Tournament last season, so having Newbill should help once he becomes eligible to play in 2012.
