Freshman guard Dion Waiters came off the bench to lead Syracuse with 18 points in their 66-62 loss to Marquette on Sunday. Waiters stepped up with Brandon Triche playing just 21 minutes due to injury. Kris Joseph scored 12 points and Rick Jackson was limited to seven points in his final game at Syracuse by a swarming Marquette defense.
Jackson is the lone senior contributor for the Orange, and the combination of youngsters such as Waiters and C.J. Fair improving with a talented incoming class should make Syracuse a tough team to deal with next year.
