Pittsburgh senior forward Gilbert Brown scored 24 points while also grabbing four rebounds and handing out three assists, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers lost to Butler 71-70. Nasir Robinson finished with 16 points and Ashton Gibbs scored 11 as the top seed in the Southeast fell. Brad Wanamaker finished with eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

In terms of key contributors the Panthers lose Brown, Wanamaker and Gary McGhee. But with a good recruiting class coming in (led by Khem Birch) look for Pitt to once again be a favorite in the Big East come October.
