Cincinnati junior forward Yancy Gates continued his improved play of late, making 10 of 11 shots from the field and scoring a game-high 25 points in the Bearcats' 87-61 win over USF. Dion Dixon added 21 points and six rebounds, and Sean Kilpatrick scored 12 off the bench in a game the Bearcats took control of late in the first half. The Bearcats take on two-seed Notre Dame in Thursday's Big East quarterfinals.
The play of Gates has been something to behold in the last three weeks, and as a result not only has Cincinnati become a lock for the Big Dance but they've also improved their projected seeding dramatically.
