Senior wing Jonathan Mitchell led Rutgers with a team-high 25 points as the Scarlet Knights beat Seton Hall 76-70 in overtime in the first round of the Big East Championship. James Beatty (12 points), Mike Coburn (11) and Gilvydas Biruta (12) also reached double figures and Dane Miller grabbed 11 rebounds in addition to scoring nine points. Next up for Rutgers is St. John's on Wednesday afternoon.
Rutgers didn't go into the Big East Championship playing their best basketball, but considering how hard head coach Mike Rice demands they play it isn't a surprise they beat Seton Hall. Look for them to give St. John's all they want as well.
