St. Mary's guard Mickey McConnell had 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists as the Gaels beat Villanova to advance to the Sweet 16. He shot 3 for 6 from deep.
McConnell banked home a three with 1:15 left to break a 65-65 tie. He seems to always come up with a huge shot when his team needs it and might be required to carry more of the scoring burden next time out against Baylor's big front line. He has 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the tournament.
