Rice freshman guard Tamir Jackson had a season-high five steals as the Owls beat Santa Clara.
Jackson has shown promise in the early going of his career, especially as a ballhawk. The 6-foot-2 guard is averaging 2.3 steals and has at least two thefts in all but one game. His shooting (32.6% from the field) is a work in progress, but he is averaging 9.4 points.
