Drew Gordon to transfer from UCLA

UCLA forward Drew Gordon has left the team and will transfer to a new school at the end of the quarter. Coach Ben Howland said, "This is not a spur-of-the-moment thing."

Gordon was among the few reliable options for UCLA in the early going, so this leaves a bare bones crew down to the marrow. Howland said freshman Reeves Nelson will get more minutes, but "that he has a lot to learn." Eventually, one Bruin will step to the forefront and lead the team, but I'd avoid the whole situation until things shake out. Keep an eye on injured freshman Tyler Honeycutt who should be back in the next few weeks.
