Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe announced that he will return to Golden Gophers for his sixth year of eligibility. Mbakwe tore his ACL after seven games in his senior season, but will be back as a 24 year old.
Mbakwe will be the 2012-13 version of Mike Scott: a tremendously productive player coming off a major injury. The Gophers were just 6-12 in the Big Ten, but made it to the NIT final behind Rodney Williams. If Mbakwe can return to health, Minnesota will be one of the better teams in the conference. He could also be a first round fantasy pick.
